La Boca - FERMÉ

Visited Taipei in mid-July with a few friends and went to La Boca. A trendy bar in a residential neighborhood with a crowd that is young, trendy and good looking. The drinks aren't bad either. The bar is small, but the vibe more than makes up for it. My only complaint is the bar staff: they aren't friendly at all. The bartender I approached seemed annoyed when I ordered some drinks. Imagine that, annoyed at a customer for wanting to spend some cash. I was shocked. When I placed my order, he shot back at me with a pissed off, "What?" There's no need to be super friendly, but there's no need to be rude either. However, the bar staff were suddenly friendly once we left. Because the venue is located in a residential area and because the neighbors have complained about the noise level, the bar tender who accompanied us outside was suddenly all smiles and charm. Basically, he wanted to make sure we kept our volume low as we walked to the corner to grab a cab. Still, I would strongly recommend this place. It's a wonderful alternative for those who don't like clubbing or don't feel like trecking all the way to Red Square in Ximen.
